Every Woman My Widowed Father Dated Disappeared Overnight—So I Asked My Best Friend to Go on a Date With Him

Rachel grew quiet.

She understood how much the situation was affecting my father. She had seen him at family gatherings, watched him struggle after my mother’s death, and witnessed how difficult it had been for him to start dating again.

Finally, she sighed.

“All right. One date. But I reserve the right to remind you how ridiculous this is for the rest of your life.”

I hugged her.

“Thank you.”

At that moment, I had no idea how much I would regret asking.
The Date That Seemed Perfect

My father was surprised when I mentioned that a friend of mine might be interested in meeting him.

I was careful not to tell him that Rachel and I had discussed his previous dates in detail. I simply explained that she thought he seemed like a nice person and would enjoy having coffee with him.

He looked uncomfortable.

“Are you sure she wants to do this?”
