“Good. Remember something today, sweetheart. You deserve to be loved in a way that makes you feel safe. Never forget that.”
I hugged him more tightly.
“I know, Dad.”
I thought he was simply feeling emotional about giving his daughter away. I didn’t realize how important those words would become before the day was over.
The ceremony itself was everything I had hoped for.
The flowers were beautiful. The music played at exactly the right moment. My friends smiled from the front rows, and my mother dabbed at her eyes as I walked down the aisle with my father.
When Daniel saw me, his expression softened.
For one brief moment, all my worries disappeared.
He took my hands and whispered, “You look incredible.”
I smiled.
“You look pretty good yourself.”
We exchanged our vows beneath a floral arch while the guests watched. We promised to support each other, to be honest, and to face life’s challenges as partners.
