After my twin sister passed away, I discovered a collection of sealed envelopes hidden in her room, each addressed to me — by the end of the first letter, I realized she had devoted years to shielding me from the truth. My twin sister, Ann, and I had been inseparable since the moment we entered the world. People often joked that we could finish each other’s sentences, but it was much deeper than that. She was the first person I contacted with good news, the only one who could soothe me after a difficult day, and the one person I never envisioned living without. Then, six months ago, I received the call that shattered my reality. On her way home from work, Ann stopped to assist at the scene of a minor vehicle incident. Moments later, another car lost control on the slick road and collided with the scene. She never returned home. For weeks, I could hardly function. After the ceremony, I couldn’t bring myself to enter her apartment. Everything inside still felt as if it belonged to her. A month later, I finally gathered the courage to help sort through her belongings. Most of it was what I had anticipated—books, clothes, old photo albums, and birthday cards we had kept since we were kids. Then, while clearing out the bottom drawer of her nightstand, I noticed a small wooden box hidden behind a stack of notebooks. Inside was a tidy pile of sealed envelopes. Every single one had my name written on the front in Ann’s handwriting. My heart began to race. I opened the first one with trembling hands. The first line read: “If you’re reading this, it means I can’t protect you anymore… There’s something about our family you deserve to know.” #viral #fblifestyle
