Willie Aames seemed to have everything at nineteen, thanks to his television success as Tommy Bradford. But over the following decades, his life changed dramatically. Struggles with alcohol and substance use, troubled marriages, and financial difficulties gradually affected both his career and personal life.
As acting opportunities became harder to find, his financial situation worsened. Eventually, he declared bankruptcy and lost his home, leaving him facing a period of housing insecurity. At forty-eight, Aames found himself rebuilding his life far away from the success he had once known.
He took jobs outside the entertainment industry, including installing satellite equipment and working aboard a cruise ship. Although these jobs were very different from acting, they gave him an opportunity to regain confidence, earn money, and begin creating stability again.
