Recorded in 1955, this song is still considered one of the best of all time! 😍 The story behind this beautiful and unforgettable song can be found in the first comment. ⬇

A discreet birth that became legendary

Originally, Unchained Melody was just a movie song, written by Alex North and Hy Zaret for the feature film Unchained.

The first version, by Todd Duncan, was elegant, almost restrained. A beautiful ballad, certainly… but still far from the global phenomenon it would become.

Like a star waiting to shine, it still lacked that emotional spark capable of touching the hearts of the general public.

The version that changed everythin

Ten years later, everything changed thanks to The Righteous Brothers.

Their 1965 version completely transforms the song. More intense, more vibrant, it blends vocal power and raw emotion with incredible accuracy.

It’s impossible to remain indifferent: every note seems imbued with feeling, every word resonates deeply. It’s this interpretation that propels the song to the status of an  undeniable classic .

Since then, the song has been covered hundreds of times… but this version remains etched in memories.

When an iconic voice takes hold of it

Another highlight: when Elvis Presley decided to perform it himself.

On stage, the emotion is palpable. His voice, both powerful and fragile, gives the song an almost intimate dimension. You get the impression that he’s singing for just one person… and perhaps that’s the magic of it.

With him, the melody becomes even more personal, like a whispered confidence.
